You may not always need a month or more of car insurance. You may only need coverage for a week, a weekend or even just a day. There are other types of short term car insurance that allow you to take out a policy without needing to do so for the one month minimum requires with a monthly pay as you go policy.
Whilst no deposit car insurance is useful if you are looking for a no deposit alternative to the traditional annual cover it does not cover every type of circumstance. For shorter periods of coverage you can get daily car insurance. Daily insurance as the name suggest can be purchased for a specified amount of days rather than months. There is a 1 day minimum and you can purchase up to 28 consecutive days. You can also purchase a few days here and there as needed making it a very flexible policy.
Many of the same specialist insurers that provide monthly policies will also provide daily policies as well. You will first need to enter in your details just as you would do to get a normal annual car insurance quote. You will need to provide details about yourself and the vehicle that you want to get insured to drive. As well as policies for cars you can also get cover for vans and motorcycles.
As this is a very short term policy, you could only be buying a days worth or cover, you will need to pay for the policy online. Once the payment has been made you will then be covered for the period specified. This means that you may want instant cover to be effective immediately or you may be purchasing coverage for a future date such as the forthcoming weekend.
You can buy daily insurance online at any time of the day or night. Due to the short nature of this type of insurance rather than being posted out your insurance documents you will be able to print them off at home. The fact that you have insurance for a vehicle will also be registered on the central database so if you are stopped by the police they will be able to see that you are insured.
Short term insurance is particularly popular amongst young drivers, specifically the under 25 year olds. With some insurers you may be able to get a policy if you are under a certain age. Every insurer has their own specific minimum age limits depending on whether or not their underwriters will underwrite them.
Some insurers will require you to be at least 25, others have a 21 years of age minimum limit. There is currently only 1 insurer that will insure drivers as young as 18 years of age but you will need to have at least 6 months driving experience.
